How do you choose black if that's what you want to play?

I believe you can do this if you play a freind unrated. Too much abuse of the ability (usually in favour of playing White) otherwise.

Guess you are setting up a new game....

Go to "Start a New Game"

---after fixing (if) your filters down left look at

"Select Game Options"

---third "text window" to the right you will see

"I played as random"

---"ckick" on the arrow and you will get options for W or B

There's no "Start a New Game" option! All I see is "Play Live", "Play Online", "Play Computer", "Tactics Trainer", and "Video Lessons".

Ps. I play on my iPad. Perhaps this is a feature that is not available for that?

If you're talking about livechess. Above 'Start Game' you should see 'Rated', change it to Unrated: Black.
