I think you can make your blogs such that they are only available to the people marked as friends.

There is a way to do this. If you click "Save & Preview" but never click publish, then your blog entry will not show up except to you.

it would be nice to be able to flag blogs as private when you post them (and maybe not get any points for it since it's private).
Unless there's already a way to do so that I've missed.
