I have seen other topics about it. If you switch out of the game screen on iOS it resigns the game, or maybe it does sometimed. I don't know if the same behavior manifests in the Android app or if that is by design or not.

Same thing happens a lot to me on the android app. I see my opponents clock running down to 0 and then it shows that I was the one who lost.

That sounds like a disconnect. The OP had the game resigned by switching screens in the app.
Related issue, since being able to force refresh in the app, to make sure you aren't disconnected would be ideal, and not being resigned when switching screens, which can be done accidentally when using drag and drop on a touch screen.
This keeps happening to me pretty frequently, probably at least twice a week playing ~5 games a day.
I'm using the chess.com app on the iPhone and I'll get no indication that I am disconnected, my opponents clock continues to run down until after minutes have gone by I infer something is wrong and restart the app to see I've "resigned" and lost the game.
Please see the following game as an example where it says I resigned when my opponent only has a king and I still have a queen, bishop + pawn:

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
