I heard the same on one of their livestreams. I believe when v3 is implemented, it will feature those game types. Then again, I also heard we were having v3 months ago. Then I saw that it was postponed. Then I saw that it will only be available to diamond members in beta form for the forseeable future. If it happens, it happens. One things for sure, don't trust Chess.com's time management.
I got very frustrated and started spamming the forums with this thread (posting multiple copies) in the hope that someone would pay attention. They probably deleted it because it was spam, but I don't understand why they would choose to not answer or comment on this question.
as a punishment to have linked this thread in several non related some others threads you should not get help or support
If there was another place to play bughouse, I would probably leave chess.com in a second, but it seems that every place that does have bughouse doesn't function well on my mac.

are you serious?

This is a very common attitude on chess.com. Staff does not provide help or support via the regular channels. They completely ignore their users. Then, when the users get upset and try more extreme measures, the community reprimands them for this. It's funny that you say "as a punishment for linking the thread" I should not get support. Apparently, the policy is that I don't get support "as a punishment" for being a paying gold member. It seems you have bought into this attitude.
you want an answer in less than 5 minutes?
No, but within a week would be nice. I tried going onto the live support but the staff is never on.
I don't care how frustrated you get, you don't spam the forums. That just gets everyone pissed off at YOU.
you started this thread 10 minutes ago!
I first started a thread with this question over a week ago.

I apologize. The funny thing is, my question might get answered now. My sense from what Zeyroin said is that it probably will never come out. That's fine. If the developers really find it THAT hard to program pretty simple variants, then I guess there's nothing that can be done. Perhaps they are more interested in ignoring the questions of their users?
Lol. You should have got an answer, now you have one. Wait for v3. You'll never change anyone's mind here.
Personally I think bughouse is terrible. It's such a mess. Have you gotten so far in chess that you've become bored? That's hard to believe...
I enjoy chess, and if I'm lucky after a lifetime of playing, I'll have progressed somewhere meaningful in my game. Until then, I plan to play chess, not variants of it.
As for 960, I understand the idea behind it, but again, I can't pretend I've gotten so far in regular positions that I need to complicate the game further. If I'm beating Magnus regularly someday, maybe I'll be bored enough to play something else lol.

Yes. Some of us crave variety. Some of us do not want a peanut-butter-and-jam sandwich for lunch every day. Some of us are not satisified with the missionary position hour-after-hour, day-after-day, month-after-month, year-after-year. And, some of us do not want to play the same chess openings again and again and again. Variety.
Bughouse, and other variants, are not everyone's cup of tea. There's nothing wrong with you wanting to focus exclusively on the classical game (which is itself derived from older forms), but some of us routinely fight the urge to hit the "resign" button after our opponent playes 1...c5, when we know we're about to play 15+ memorized moves, because variety is an important element in our enjoyment of the game.
To the good folks running Chess.com ... If you're having trouble setting up bughouse, try "crazyhouse" in the meantime; it should be much simpler, and after solving that it will be less of a step to implement bughouse.

I actually haven't been playing much chess lately - go is my primary game these days. Bughouse just really interests me as a game. It's not the same a classical chess, but it's not supposed to be. The idea that you should only try variants once you feel "bored" of classical chess doesn't make sense to me. Should I not try any other interests at all until I'm as strong as Magnus? Bughouse is just a different chess-like game I'm interested in :)

I understand what you're saying about the memorized openings, but still if we could always play the rest of the game correctly, we would be world champs. Every day I play and every day I see new positions in the middle and endgames. I'm astonished at how much variety there is to be honest.
I have been trying to get this question answered for quite some time. Rather than answer it, staff haven chosen to ignore it and delete the threads I started. Admittedly, I was spamming the forums, but I wouldn't have to resort to this if it was possible to talk to chess.com staff and get these questions answered! Anyway, here's the original:
I heard in a Danny Rensch video that we were soon going to have live bughouse and 960 on this site. Is this true? That would be awesome! Does anyone know when this might happen? Thanks! :)
Seems polite enough, no? I will keep posting this until, at some point, someone gives me an idea of what the state of all this is. It's a reasonable question, and I do pay for my membership.
