if you achieve a rating of 2200 you are awarded the title national master. If after 300 games you maintain that rating you are a life master

I am curious about the threshold to get the U.S national chess master title. I once heard that it requires an USCF member whose rating achieves 2200 with playing at least 300 official games; is this true? If not, then can anybody tell me what's the threshold to become a U.S national chess master?
