If you resign before 4 moves each are played it will count as a loss but will not affect your rating.
You can abort a daily game before your first move.
What if you lose on time even though no moves have been played? Doesn't this count as aborting the game? If I don't play my move in this position then the game will just be aborted?

I don't know if the game will timeout or abort. Either way the game won't affect the your rating since less than four moves were played.
