Can't decline a game without an email???

Either or, its ridiculous. You should be able to click "No Thanks" and that's the end of it.
Is that right, then, that you have to go in and send them an extra "Message" in order to decline the game?

Furtiveking, you still have to go thru the whole sending them "something". When a request is sent ( I rarely ever decline ), it has the NO THANKS button to click.
BUT...that's not enough to click No Thanks. You have to send the message to them, too, regardless of what you send to them. When I first was on Chess.com, I don't think this was required. Its annoying, but that's life, I guess.

This is a friendly site where you not only learn chess but also some manners!
Haha. The reason why I would click the "No thanks" button in the first place and decline is because the opponent wasn't "friendly" in the first place. I do see your point, though.
Yeah, it's been that way since at least 2008. You don't have to actually send them something. If you leave that space blank, it will just decline the game, and the other player will only ever see that you've declined.

Scott, how so? When a request to play is sent, I click into it and there it has the accept or the No thanks. When I click No thanks to get rid of the request, it immediately sends me to the message / email box where I must tell them WHY I declined. Or am I missing something?

Deliberately I guess.
There's a 'send' and a 'no thanks' button.

Hmmmm. So if I don't type anything in the box in the message and click send, it will just decline the game and not send the message to them? Like I say, I RARELY decline. Can count on 3 fingers the number of times I have.....Maybe I'm not doing it right.

I'm honestly not playing stupid here. I don't remember seeing the two choices again when the message box comes up. I'll look for that if a decline ever happens again.

Would you like me to send you a challenge so you can decline it and see?
Yes. Thank you

Send me a request and I'll screenshot it if you like...
Furtiveking is gonna send me a request. Sorry for all of this whining around. I just am in a Pee'd off mood when I decline and when I think I have to give the disrespectful person a reason, too.....that just makes me ticked.
Am I doing something wrong, or does a person have to send a personal decline email in order to decline a turn based game request?
Seriously? I cannot simply click "no thanks"? I have to send the person an email, too? *scratching head*
