As long as "play sounds" is enabled, under settings>board and pieces, you should be able to hear both. There is a similar post about this issue, along with a possible fix here:

I agree. I can not hear my opponents move nor the end of the game sound.
I changed from Chrome to Firefox and then it worked. I guess you could solve it by clearing cache or something similar.
Which Chrome are you using?
Version 74.0.3729.169 (Official Build) (64-bit) But it is updating itself now.

Lately I've had an even bigger problem. After taking my anti psychotics I can't hear my opponent's thoughts.
In the past I wouldn't fall for traps, because I could hear them thinking about it, but now I blunder all the time!
