Can't kick people out of tournaments?

would it be simpler to lobby for a rule, or creation option to eliminate players after X number of time loss game. where the "x" is any number set by the tournament operator. So if you want zero tolerance, the variable would be set to 0...and people joining would see a "One game lost due to time elapse will result in ejection from tournament... play at your own risk" blah blah blah. That way... in effect you are booting ill interested players, and the players, aren't subject to arbitrary discipline... ie the disclaimer was posted, they accepted the tourney rules... they lose a game due to time... they get booted. this i think at least gets the ball rolling in a productive manner. OR if done would at least solve one problem. Therefor being at least mildly pragmatic a course of action.
the moderators insistence on you presenting a case for/the need for the ability to boot players is the cust service equiv of him telling you you're wrong. Or a "SNAFU" scenario is in effect. I think essentially you're very fixated on this notion that people are breaking the rules when they aren't really. The case is easily made that maybe the rules, or tools tournament operators have at their disposal need to be augmented to prevent the situation you find yourself and your tournament in. but it's flawed logic to jump from that argument to the point that because the rules are bad, you deserve special abilities/treatment.
it would seem prudent that the chess.com website folks work towards providing more control and more options to people who wish to engage in various types of play(i'm assuming they're hard at work doing just that). this would add to player enjoyment and provide value advantages to offer to paying customers. but they'd be foolish to open themselves up to the hell of having the power to boot come from non-official people. Because if they gave you the ability to lord over your own sand box, they'd have to totally negate any negative affects you exercising that power would result in to appease the people who'd invariably be pissed off otherwise... and having something with no penalty would only encourage more annoying behavior. Leading you right back to the forums to pettion for more power. And in all that time, you coulda just been playing chess.

chesster: I totally agree.
This isn't like inviting someone to be your friend on Facebook. There are predefined rules for what is and what is not the duty of a tournament director. And it has nothing to do with how things work on whichever social networking websites you belong to.
Erik: Thank you for not doing this.

I am not clear reading the threads if those with white, that never make the 1st move are under a time limit.
In other words if they never even start the game, has a clock started?
If yes, where is the problem? Just ensure the Tourney set-up doesn't have vacation and doesn't have too long a time limit.
Having a boot button is a horrible idea IMHO and will lead to endless forum bickering and complaints.

This is a true story, I guy falls asleep in my game at a tournament, should I wake him or let him sleep, his clock is ticking. After awhile I decide to wake him up, with a start, he realizes it is his move. Promply he leans over his king gets up and walks out. If i let him sleep through the whole tournament do those game not count...
