Castling

How can I make a castling move using the chess.com software?

I've tried dragging and dropping the rook/king every possible way, and I am aware of all prerequiste conditions for a castling move to be made.

thanks

Move the King to where you want him to go. If it's not working then possibly the move is illegal. Have you already moved the King/rook or are you in check? Maybe your King is passing over an attacked square.

Yeah, make sure you are moving king first. This is also important in OTB games too. Sometimes beginners don't know that they must touch the king first in order to castle or a sly opponent could force rook move. As long as all the legality of the move is there, the software will allow castling. I'm gonna toss up a sample diagram just for clarity.

On the first diagram, we are assuming white has NOT moved any of the pieces shown. White cannot castle queenside, as the queen hits d1, so the king would be in check during the castling manouvre. White can castle kingside because the pawns shield the queen attack. To castle, White would grab the king first, and move it two squares over, to g1, and the rook will move automatically.

In the second diagram, White cannot castle kingside, as the bishop hits on g1, the square that the king would end up on. White can castle queenside. This manouvre would begin with king moving over two squares to c1, and the rook will move automatically.

Please do not take offence to this post. It is made for clarities sake and for additional learning for any upstarting players.
