"Chat disabled" message for daily chess games

Hi,

I have a few friends who sign up for chess.com and I can chat with them during our daily games, but others it just says "Chat disabled" and I can't chat with them. This is not intentional, I don't believe, and they can't figure out how to turn it back on. Does anyone know how they can enable chat for daily games? One guy I asked said he didn't seem to have it in his settings in his iPhone app. Not sure about the other people.

In the app it should be in Settings > Daily > Allow Chat.

Thank you for your reply in both places! They say they don't see that setting (I had suggested it to them). Below is a screenshot that they sent me and I sent them.

I have only tried to debug this with one person, but I would say that I can't chat with about 30% of my friends who I have told to join chess.com but I can with the other ones... I don't know if it's an iPhone thing, but I don't believe it is.

I know the iOS app is not at feature parity with Android but I assumed that would be a fundamental option that would be there.

Maybe they could open a ticket. There might be a way for staff to do something or provide insight.

So I have confirmed that I can chat with some users on iPhones with non-paid subscriptions just fine. So it doesn't seem to be an iPhone thing or a membership level thing. Which just makes it even more confusing. With the people where it says "Chat disabled," I can send them a regular message but when I go to my messages history, those people are not listed. I can see some of my history in messages, but only from people I can chat with during regular games... Very odd!

I have the same problem with a friend and there's no option to allow chat on the browser for daily chess games.

I figured out what the issue is! Turns out that if the other person doesn't verify their account, they can't chat. Chess.com should do better about telling that to people so it's clear WHY they can't chat. But have them verify their email address and they should be good to go!

Yeah, some of the messages are a bit generic.

@DoisKoh, if that fixes your problem, please respond here. I would like to suggest to chess.com that they give a bit more info in those messages so people aren't so frustrated...
