Bye
Cheating and hacking

Can anyone look over all of my games? At least 3 or 4 of my opponents are cheaters...
If you suspect someone then report via the site contact form: https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new
To the OP. One thing to look at is Flash. The site only uses it for Videos in v2 but for some reason it gets loaded on Live (where it is not needed). If you are playing via browser, disabling Flash might help. Also, if you have other browser windows or tabs open, the potential is there for processes there to cause issues.
Is there a thing like cheating at chess.com? There are many definitions of cheating, but let's look at the technical aspects of it. I have played approximately 20.000 matches here, so I have at least some empirical experience. Let me share some of them regarding this topic:
My last games were played against a new profile and we played a few rapid 3min. Consistently during the first and last seconds of the game my watch started not only to malfunction, my pieces just wouldn't move. I started every match at around 2.45-48 and in won endgames (K+Q vs. K+pawn) I would suddenly lose on time even though I had 12-13 seconds left, i.e. more than enough time to mate.
Cause: My internet connection? Definitely not the best, but I can stream series, so it can't be rubbish. Chess.com-server? Nah, why only towards the end of the game? Cheating? I don't know. Something else? Maybe. There are some provocative articles here about add-ons and browser settings that don't really help. And why would they work only against selected player profiles?
Now, the profile I played against automatically closed down the chat and comments. It was new, and he/she played fast and not too bad. Is it possible to make someone else's clock slow down when needed? Probably.
I've had a chat with a few chess buddies about it, and they suggested I should buy a premium profile to increase speed. Really? Could it be chess.com punishing/rewarding certain profiles? Economically it would make sense, of course, but the long lasting effects would be what I have decided to do now: delete a 20.000 game profile. It's not worth it anymore. Could the few adds non-premium players see cause the lack of speed? It would surprise me, but what do I know? I lecture on the philosophy of ethics, not IT.
Discuss cheating in the Cheating Forum Group only. Thanks, CM.
