Chess 960 castling question?

How do I castle when playing Chess 960 on Chess.com?

Do I move the king or rook first?

Please advise.

Lift the king up, drop it on the square it would usually end up on if castling 0-0 or 0-0-0 in standard chess. (called c side and g side, because thats where the king ends up). At least thats my understanding of it, or you could use analysis board and mess around with it till you figure it out.

Sometimes in Chess 960 a player would have the option of moving the king one square sideways or castling. I am wondering how does a player distinguish between the two moves?

In Fritz 13, to castle you have to press the rook on the king to castle. I tried that procedure on Chess.com, but it did not work.

try lifting the king up and dropping it on the rook, or on the other side, if it doesnt work, then the pieces around your king probably are still blocking castling.

I will give the king lift a try. In one game that I am playing, my king and rook are next to each other. No pieces are blocking the king and rook.

You can castle by moving your king onto the rook.  This works no matter what squares the king and rooks start on.

Remember, if castling on the standard chess queenside, the king must go on the c file, and the rook on the d file.

On kingside rook on f and king on g

If theres any pieces taking up those squares they must be moved.

You,re right, dropping the king on the rook that you want to castle with is the correct procedure. Thanks for your assisstance.
