Chess.com iphone app - why does it logout if offline?

It's annoying. It constantly logs my account out if I'm offline. When the wireless turns on again, I have to log back in. I constantly have to do this. Some apps when they go offline they save the account, so logging in should be automatic. Not the case with the chess app. Why is that? I use my facebook account for login btw... in case that helps with the troubleshooting.

So you think chess.com's servers should keep all of the last sessions saved for all accounts when they seem to have stopped responding?

If they don't make you log in again, how are they supposed to know it's you?

The servers would know it's you based on the app's credentials/tokens. That's how others app work. If you're offline, the app just politely says you need to get online. Once you are online, the app automatically logs you on. Why does the chess app not do that? The chess app just says you are offline, then keeps you offline even when you are online.

Ej0093: I couldn’t agree more whole-heartedly.

My commitment to do a once-a-day chess move on my brother is often tempted to be postponed, because of this very same inconvenience. My opponent has complained about the same problem. I am responding here, because I was googling this issue, and your post came up.

It is an issue that would be convenient and ideal, if resolved.

Yes, I understand the logic of needing to re-log into my *banking* app (for example), everytime I use it. But, for *chess?*...

I don’t even have to re-log into *eBay!*...

Why not *chess*?...

In the meantime: I try to avoid the problem, by making sure the data is always up & running, before opening (or re-opening) the chess.com app, (on iOS)...

Thanks for your post.

I never have to log on to the Android app after an initial login. Maybe iOS differs?

The website does time out.
