The only way I know to get to the Explorer in the app is to be in a current Daily game and use the analysis board.
If you just want to go over the game you might be able to use the vs Computer option and change both players to human.

Thanks Martin, although I must say, wouldn't it make more sense for the Explorer to be 'inaccessible' during a game and only accessible outside of game situations? Especially if chess.com is to be a one-stop shop because you want traffic but people who study chess books won't pass through when doing so if they can't "freeboard" (haha I coined a term). The current setup also encourages use of the Explorer in game situations yet I've read in the past that chess.com discourages this. I believe both are undesireable outcomes.
Daily chess alows the use of opening/game databases such as Explorer. That format is essentially standard postal/correspondence chess. For Live, you are correct; using it would not be allowed.
True, though I can't see why. In any case, I found the answer. Perhaps through a correspondence game is the only known way to access the chess.com chess explorer, but I found a link to it through a Google search for chess opening explorer. Here's the link to chess.com's chess explorer: https://www.chess.com/explorer?moveList=&ply=0
Hi, how do you use the chess explorer in the app? I just want a board to move pieces around on while I study a chess book.
