You should be able to close the app completely if you're not able to log in after an update. To close the app completely, double click on the home button from the home screen, press and hold the Chess.com icon, and then click the red (-) symbol. When you reopen the app and log back in you should be all set :)

It's great the site is continually improved but does anyone else find that their UN & PW don't log them back into their phone App after a software update? I always have to delete the existing version and upload it again in itunes. This generally takes me ages as I'm dull with Apple and sometimes, like now, I even miss game deadlines as a result. Still, this is not as important as the amazon, global warming, tiger cubs etc...
