I'm guessing the issue is with your PC/laptop. Worth trying from a different PC/Laptop to see if the issue is with chess.com or with your side. I've not had that problem so it's likely your side of things causing the issue. Also worth trying accessing the site using internet explorer or Firefox. I'm using f/fox. Never liked IE and the latest version is soooooo slow!!!!
Client software on iPad
Hi velosachess, long time no see. Where are the previous year award night pictures yo promised me? Lol
Anyway, I am using an iPad with the chess.com app especially made for apple and android products no the HTML based one via any Internet browser. Thanks for replying though. Pete
I've also had similar issues with the Ipad app.
For the most part it has been working fine, I'm using a mobile (3g) connection through my mobile phone. From what I've seen the problems come when my spouse uses the same connection to watch online videos - so it might be some bandwith issues.
This is what has happened I think three times:
1. I've been playing without issues
2. My spouse starts watching some videos using the same 3g connection
3. The Ipad apps tells me that the connection is too weak (or similar message) and retracts my last move.
4. After my moves have been retracted for a while the game might continue but I can't see what pieces my opponent moves. Once I could even move my pieces to such positions that I had several queens, and then the connection resumed and my opponent had obliterated me ( I wish I would have marked down the game number).
I'm wondering how much data the Ipad app uses. I mean I would assume chess would take such miniscule amounts of data to transfer and that any lags from the low latency 3g network should matter too much (in non blitz games). So at least for me the app has been working decently unless someone else is using most of the bandwith from my connection.
BTW, I really love your Ipad app (especially the tactics trainer) and if it weren't for the app I wouldn't be a premium member.
When it is my move on the online chess games, I get as far as submitting the move before the client displays a network error message, pressing retry displays the error again, pressing cancel retracts the move I make. After several attempts at submitting a move it goes through but then closes the chess client and signs me out of the site. This has been happening for the last few days and occurs whether entering moves at work or home via broadband or 3G connection. I also have the android mobile phone client which is not suffering from the same issue.
