Confused by limits of free account

When I try to join a new tournament I get told "you are already in 1 tournament". That's fine if the limit for free members is one tournament... but I'm actually playing in 4!

I am not complaining but don't really understand what the limitation is, and when I will be able to join new tournaments.

I think the limit might be active tournaments. If you have finished all your games in a tourney and are moving through to the next round, it may not count that. Not sure though. Also, if you were premium at one point and joined those tourneys, you don't get removed by going back to basic.

Official Chess.com tourneys don't count towards the limit either. Didn't think to look at what tourneys the OP may be in

I've never had a premium membership and I definitely mean tournaments. I wondered if I was allowed to register more as many as I wanted until the first one started... but I think Martin has a major point since 2 of my tournaments are chess.com ones.
