Connection Settings Tab Missing in Live Chess

Hi,

Title says it all. How come I can't see and change the connection settings in live chess anymore?

You can see the connection settings tab on this link: https://www.chess.com/blog/News/how-to-adjust-your-live-chess-connection

As of lately this is how it looks for me when I enter live chess:

They were removed. My guess is the site changed how connection quality was handled and those options wouldn't work with the changes.

When entering chess.com/live, ”Live2” (CDN) is automated as the network option for me. Although this can’t be seen anymore through the mentioned tab (because of its removal), I can confirm this is still very much the case, by requesting the round trip time through the command ”/ping” in chess.com/live.

Is there anything at all that I can do to change the network option from ”Live2” (CDN) to ”Live” (default routing), now that the network tab has been removed? Maybe through a command in chess.com/live ? Or maybe another way to manually change this?

If anyone has a clue, please share happy.png

I'm sorry to hear the tab was removed, Martin_Stahl. I mean the network settings tab did show to serve its purpose, as what the site defaults me to, (in my case, Live2), is not what's the best performing for me. Site has quite a following, I'm sure I'm not alone in this regard

Try clearing your site cookies.

Tried clearing both the cookie monsters and the cache as well, but I'm still automated to "live2" frustrated.png. But this has always been the case for me. Just wasn't an issue before, as with the connection settings tab, one could easily overwrite the automated network option.

Besides requesting the round trip time, opening up the site source (in the web browser) when I'm inside live chess also confirms the network option. It reads the following:  window.Config['cometd.network'] = 'live2';

My understanding is that both Live (default routing) and Live2 (CDN) still exist, therefore there should be a way to alter between these manually through a command of some sort. But hey, what do I know.

I'm thinking maybe the connection settings tab was removed by chess.com because they thought those settings were confusing to the general community. I can see that being the case, but that would still be a shame because those were quite useful too.

Martin_Stahl, as a moderator maybe you know someone in staff who could look into this? That's not to say your efforts so far haven't been appreciated. They have happy.png

Martin_Stahl

I'll ask, but can't say what may happen or be communicated.

Martin_Stahl

Staff may post something, but basically it's the code is now considered robust enough that it should be automatically chosing the best connection type based on the current situation.

Great! Let me know when you get a response. Thank you happy.png

Oh, that was quick

AnyWhereAnyTimes

I see. I'm hoping for news on this matter from staff then. Thanks!

Or it could be that the other options are worse for you.

Why stuff doesn't respond to this thread? This a serious issue. I'm losing roughly 20% of games because of disconnects

Staff will sometimes post in topics, but if you really want staff input, you should either open a ticket or submit a bug report.
