thank you for answering. I am playing on the computer and not sure why it keeps coming up with a blank white background. I want to play but need my squares! If anyone has any suggestions let me know! Love the website.

Are you using this on a Mac or on an iPhone? One thing you can try is see if choosing a different theme: just go to Themes - Settings - Chess.com and see if any of those make a difference.
(I've also cleaned up the profanity that was accidentally posted - people can edit their own posts when you realise that's not something you meant to do)

So that's a diagram as it appears in a Daily Puzzle forum post - although it's super strange that the post below it also has a diagram that is showing properly: I'm not sure if the themes affect those sort of diagrams. Does your Live or Daily Chess boards have the same problem? Those are the ones that the Themes change.
Martin's suggestion of trying another browser would be a great test, but Safari is pretty baked into the MacOS - I know you can get Chrome, Firefox, Edge etc from the App Store for an iPhone, but I don't know how you'd get one of those for your Mac.
so yes everything works fine everywhere else except the daily puzzle. I did change the browser and Chrome does work. So go figure.. I guess I will have to switch to a different browser if I want to play. So strange. Thanks for your help.

It's still worthwhile reporting that as a bug - the front end developers would probably want to understand what it is about Safari or a Safari setting is causing that behaviour. Cheers!

I have the same problem, but only on my iPhone. Mac and iPad are OK. This happens since a few months or so.
EDIT: I solved it by removing the cookies from chess.com
