Ed has disappeared. He was an admin on several teams. No cheater badge but content is gone.

Bad timing - Need him back as soon as possible! My laptop is in for repair and he had picked up the load.

Please, please, please restore him as soon as possible. Thanls.

A friend of mine got banned for saying merry Christmas to too many people too fast.

Hi Jaime, My understand from a pm msg exc I had with a co-SA or Admin of Ed's, a different team(s); Ed got real upset about a suspect cheat (will pm you name), lack of staff action on(?) and abruptly closed his own account oiver the situation; Your take is making MORE sense as my understanding: If a member closes OWN account (like you did in June) posted content as in team Notes/Forums/msg inboxes STAYS in place, just all member pages stuff gone.

On other hand, if SITE closes your account, for any reason: cheat, spam, abuse, any thing they decide basically, THEN ALL of your content everywhere disappears.

SO, it would lead me to believe: Staff shut down Ed 'abruptly, NOT Ed closed own account'; Partially surmising this from your- 'he had picked up load' phrasing.

non-existent-me: THAT falls under their 'spam rules' which encompass a number of things, including- too many posts, too fast.

You are right, he is not a cheater, I beat him in a game long time ago. We bumped heads, he thought I was cheating. I got mad, because I do not.

But now, I think he is cool. Hope he gets back, he is even an active fellow Knight.

Well, Ed was the tyoe of person to tell people that they are cheaters when they are just good. He really bullied me about it during a game.

RookTE: You claiming expertise on Ed's personality based on 2 tourney games played 4+ months ago now? Some of us have known him LONG before you even joined the site in July, but then what would we know?

Avatar of Nightmare_King1

In the group ACTC, he was arguing with some people, one of them a staff member. I think that might had gotten himself banned....

Avatar of Nightmare_King1

And explains why his content is gone

Avatar of SatBchMagicer

Nightmare: That is also my educated guess; Public venue posting, by Ed of content specifically NOT allowed per chess.com rules; That WILL get your account closed by staff 'for cause' (whether you arguing with them or NOT); That I CAN SEE Ed doing as long time knowing him; Thanks for the info, would surmise (not having seen any of the posts) that chess.com staff 'will decide' AFTER Christmas, how long his 'muting' (that's the term for acct closed/all content removed) will have effect as it is totally their decision.

I believe if you quit, your content stays? In any event, you can be banned due to spam filter or for other reasons that cheating. In fact, any violation of terms of service can be reason for a ban.

Does anyone know his private email? He can ask chess.com why he is banned, if it was indeed not him who quitted.

When I left chess.com, under my previous account(voluntarily) chess.com deleted my content as well

Avatar of SatBchMagicer

When Jaime closed her account in June, her content NOT deleted; I've seen numerous members close their own accounts, over past 20 months, themselves, their content stayed posted; Nightmare has pretty well 'answered' WHY his account was closed (I have independent pms telling me: Ed was VERY upset with staff 'non-handling of member he thought, shall we say: not playing to chess.com standards as Ed perceived them'), was posting to that effect prior to his acct.- POOF... Ed's a bright guy, headstrong at times, certain of some of his opinions to the extreme, IMO; I'm SURE if his acct closed, HE already knows why it was (may not have figured 'they would do that to "settle" an argument').

Avatar of VirtualKnightJoakim

So it could be spam filter... or some other ban by chess.com?

So let's wait a few days? If it is due to spam glicth quota and ghost contact chess.com, he should be back soon.

Avatar of SatBchMagicer

If you are closed by staff for ANY spam 'reason', all your content disappears also (until your account reinstated); If you are closed by staff for cheating, same effect; If you are closed by staff for 'member abuse', same effect... are we getting the picture? If THEY, site staff close your account, usually ALL your content disappears (have seen cases when some content at least did NOT disappear OR was reinstated by the time I 'checked it out' (they do THAT in some cases also)).

You may not know some things, but please don't make it a 'we do not know' certain things some of us have learned, by observation, over time.

If you are closed for cheating, you will have cheater's icon. Sartresghost has not. I think we determined that if you quit, content stays.

So it appears that there are two possible explanations:
1) Account closed due to spam filter (happens a lot for admins)
2) Account closed for reasons othe than cheating

No Cheater's icon:

The account is now active. So probably it was an auto process that caught him.

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

         Yeahhhhh!Smile  Thank you Martin

Avatar of Martin_Stahl

I didn't do anything,  just saw he was back.

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

Well get him over here. I don't know how much longer we can hold them offSurprised
