the following message is displayed on my settings page.

Your email address "toddpiersonsworld@gmail.com" is currently on our DO NOT EMAIL list.
You will not receive any email from Chess.com until you resolve this issue.
how to resolve???

Click the link in the notice you pasted in here and contact the staff requesting your e-mail address be removed from the list.
