DOWNGRADE

Home ---> Account. You should be able to downgrade from here. If you bought a year package, the account will be downgraded after the year has passed since you bought the package. By the way, please contact support if you have other problems, it's at the bottom of the page 'Help and Support'.
Thanks, but this advice only echos the web-pages. I bought Platinum. I then, several weeks later, upgraded. According to the information on membership, I can up and down grade for brief periods of time. I wanted to see if I would avail myself of the extra perqs. I didn't. Now, I want to go back to my original membership level. It is also within the 30 day trial period stipulated.
I don't want to close the account.
I have sent emails, and waited for a reply.

I don't think it exacly works like that, I had a diamond membership, and I downgraded to gold membership so that the membership would last longer. Upgrading would mean you would have to pay more, and if you could upgrade and downgrade freely with minimum cost it would mean the system can be used for gain. There is a big difference between a gold membership and a diamond membership.
I never used the 30 day trail period, but got a lot of chess.com messages about it, I am not sure how it works, but again changing membership level, sounds like exploitation in this way.

How long ago did you open a ticket? It can take a few days for them to get back with you.
A downgrade will normally just increase the length of the lower tier membership. Basically, you have a certain balance and when switching that balance is used to pay for the new tier and will last until the balance is exhausted.

I know I'm not a support person, but my understanding is that the month resets at that point with the different level of membership. So yes.

If i downgrade my premium account i will take my money again?
You're at the lowest level, so your only option would be to cancel the premium. You'll keep it until the term expires.
