Draw offers in daily games

Hi,

Let's say I'm in a daily game and want to offer draw. How does this exactly work? Until when does my offer stand? I assume this might be different if I offer it during my turn or during their turn so don't hesitate to give me full details, please.

Thanks in advance for sharing knowledge.

In a tournament game, you would make a move and then offer a draw before pressing your clock. The offer would remain valid until accepted or declined or your opponent made a move.

That can't happen online since moving constitutes pressing the clock.

If you offer a draw before you move, your move cancels the offer.

Therefore, you have to make the offer when it is your opponent's turn to move.

Hi and thanks for your answer.

I'm in a Daily game so I can offer draw during my turn and wait for my opponent's answer during a few hours. If I understood correctly, my offer will expire when I move?

Why not but if so, all these "details" would need to be explained somewhere on the site because they're far from obvious, especially since they can't be guessed from OTB chess.

Now I can say it doesn't. I offered a draw yesterday during my turn. As my opponent hadn't answered today, I decided to play. And despite that, I see my offer is still standing. I assume it will be until he plays (or accepts/declines the offer).

This really needs to be documented somewhere in the rule section of the site.

That's the way it should work. If you make a draw offer before moving it should stay until your opponent declines or makes their own move.

There had been a bug where offering a draw and then moving canceled the offer but it may have been fixed
