Resolved: Erroneous draw?

Just a clarification, there isn't a "perpetual" draw; by definition it is three-fold repetition of position (or the 50 move rule). The 1st place that takes place is at move 51.

From the FAQ: The use of the "Draw" button in Live chess is to offer your opponent a draw when you offer it, your opponent can then accept or decline, however, in the instance of 3 Fold Repetition, you can use the "Draw" button to "Claim By Repetition" without your opponent having an option to accept or decline. Once your opponent has made his/her 3rd repetitive move, make your move then click on the draw button. This gives you the game by repetition.

I know there is a issue with the way three-fold works in correspondence in this case; not 100% sure on Live. Though, after move 51 you should have had the option to claim the draw. I've only played live a few times and haven't had the opportunity for either draw type so I don't know how the interface changes or doesn't change, other than what is listed in the FAQ.

The way I read it is that you should have been able to make the claim and then submit your move on 51 and most of the subsequent moves until the positions moved away from the repetitions. The option should have been available on your move also at that point (again, unless Live is a lot different than correspondence)

Thanks.

From about move 52 onwards I was clicking Draw furiously, so if it's the case that I should have been able to claim a draw on my own move, it didn't work.

If it is this game  http://www.chess.com/livechess/game.html?id=78799855 then see post #13.

It is not a draw if you can help your opponent to checkmate you.
