Fair Play Policy

The live chess interface here has way too many "features" and is bloated.  It will run poorly on a lot of machines.  I suggest trying the simple, practical lichess.org if you have trouble with chess.com's servers.

i was just warned about it and it's because I have a slow connection. There's another glitch that I notice when there's a slow connection... it's hard to win on time! I just lost (because it shouldn't have been a draw) to a JustinoRodrigues (id=336070681, id provided for Chess.com staff). I don't mind getting the draw, but this has happened before. Is there a remedy to that (comment for chess.com)?

One of my opponents lost one pawn so they disconnected and when they reconnected waited to see if I would leave then I won because of the fair play policy

I've a suggestion or rather a feedback on the automatic forfeit system after a player disconnects.

As my internet connection is poor at the moment, I find myself sometimes disconnecting due to broken connection. Very often I am not able to reconnect in time (the 2 minutes or whatever mark) and sometimes find myself having lost a won game on time, even though I had around 10 minutes on the clock. I would like to suggest removing this 2 minute mark and rather let the clock run down. While it may be annoying to those players that are being intentionally stalled, I think it gives the people with a poor connection at least a chance to reconnect before the time runs out. Of course, players who would abuse this system would be flagged for stalling. However, I think it would be more fair if I could use all the time on my clock and not get forfeited just after a minute or two.

thanks for your suggestion, but weighing the two sides of this issue, we are going to stick with the 2 minutes for now.

Basil, if people are aborting against you, odds are those guys are at some point hitting enough aborts that they get restricted. I'm not sure what you don't understand about that?

as to the ~30 seconds getting added back, i don't know what that is, that's not how it works. perhaps you lagged out or were disconnected briefly, so it looked like your opponent's time was running down. when you were reconnected, the server then showed you the correct time on your opponent's clock, as they had moved while you were disconnected.

can u guys plz fix this everytime someone else im playing quits or aborts our game it still counts it as me aborting too, i keep getting restricted even if the other person is the one aborting

i'm sorry, but the site admins can't do anything if your internet connection does not work properly, which is probably the problem here. if your games are being auto aborted all the time, that probably means you are lagging out for more than 30 seconds..

30 seconds? IT is arbtrary and sometimes much less - I just had a forced abort after 5 seconds as black. Quite literally, the white just moved, and as I was moving my mouse to move my first pawn, boom - abort.

Yes we can differentiate but we won't say how otherwise people will know how to bypass it :)

Dear Chess.com,

" Your play is restricted because you have not followed our Fair Play Policy - which prohibits stalling, abandoning games or frequently aborting. You must now wait 5 minutes between games. This restriction will be lifted automatically after a few days, or after you play several fair games "

I juz got this Msg after my Connection got Interrupted continuosly coz I'm using a Portable Wifi ( juz started using yesterday evening coz I'm Overseas ) n' I lost most of my games coz cannot connect back ..

I don't /Never Abort Games or Disconnect Intentionally.

Can u Plz Kindly look into it ?

( I think the System cannot detect the Differennce between Unintentional n' Intentional Disconnections Now )

TNX VERY MUCH !!!

I am getting a fairplay warning everytime I attempt to play.  I am running a Mac OSX.  Also, the graphics are screwing up all over the place during play.

I keep getting the 'Fair Play' warning. I do not abort games. This must be coming from lost cell connections. Anything I can do to prevent this?

Kikyo_Sushi

Nowadays when my Connection gets very Bad and keeps Getting Interrupted for many consecutive Games I'm playing, the Fair Play Message starts to show continually but when it's ok again, the Message disappears ... jfyi.

( I also do not Abort or disconnect Games )

Hello,

I am writting to the Staff because I have a faire play policy problem.

Now and then, my games are restricted for five minutes. When I issue a challenge and fall against players having the label "Diamond" "Platinum" i abord the game.

My reason for abording is that i do not want my games to be systematicaly analized and kept in memori.

I was able to filter "Gold" as they can be filtered in the settings. But is there a way to filter the players "Diamond" and  "Platinum" ? Woud it be possible to not be restriced when I abord in this way ?

I belive this restriction of five 5 minutes game is not justifyed as I do not FRIVOLOUSLY abort the game and have reasons for this action.

Sincerly,

Puppuce
