Hi,

I started a live game, the guy was white and made a move. I looked at his page and there are a whole load of complaints about him - a few examples- (edited to remove names)

  • Sore Loser and he didn't even lose he just quit playing.............such cowardice

  • I agree! Think before ya move next time. Thanks!

  • loser... very poor sport...

So, having read all this, I told him I was not going to play and aborted.

Then I got a note saying I might have violated the fair play policy.....    Undecided

Ok, I just didnt want to name and shame....   Smile

Don't worry about it, it's only a problem if you do it a number of times. Just an automated message from hitting the abort button.

I wouldn't be so sure on that.  It looks like they already took Ruby's Platinum membership away because of it.  No more diamond.

I got off lightly, a police caution next time..

Side note:  Just a few months ago, Scotland was playing at 1780's online chess.  Now that rascal is 2000 rated????  What???  Its like Harry Houdini has been raised from the dead!

I was never stuck in the 1700s.

That is an impressive upwards climb, you rascal!!!

Btw, not to sound like an old foogy, but how did you cut and paste that chart???  I thought I was decent with compters but I can't figure out how to show my flatline online rating graph.  :(

Print screen, save in paint, insert image etc.

Oh ok.  That might be too much for me to try to figure out.  :(

Nice chart and nice rating progression!

Ponz, can you top gaining 250pts in 4 months??  That is impressive improvement!

Truthfully, I was just underrated for most of it. But I would hope I've improved a lot too, I've done thousands upon thousands of tactics puzzles.

Mr_Tarkanian   Your question kind of shows a lack of imagination?  Of course someone can gain 250 points in 4 months.  As Scottrf says he was underrated at one point.

I once gained approximately 140 USCF points in about a month.

Also doing the tactic puzzles as frequently as he did will raise your rating quickly.

Instead of being suspicious--better to congratulate him!

Haha.  I wasn't suspicious - I was just teasing.  Seriously, that is a great improvement.  I'm happy for our Scott.  :)

Times normally don't start until after your first move.  Aborting games often forces your clock to start at the beginning, meaning you can't abort.  I don't abort games.  I remember abandoning one game, which I was winning, over a year ago due to the internet provider going down for a few hours.

A few days ago I clicked Start Game.  Before a game popped up, I heard a crash down stairs.  I went to check it out and had to clean up a mess from the puppy.  Upon returning, I saw that a game started and was aborted from me not responding to 1. e4.  I started another game and played 1. e4.  Before they played 1... e5, I noticed I spent a few seconds on my first move.

I haven't noticed this since then.  Perhaps it was a fluke.  Either way, it's not really anything to worry about, unless you like to spend 30 minutes thinking of how you want to start the game.
