I got the same problem. and i dont do anything that will violate the policy.

My fault its my first time here to play .my net connection is slow i never disconnected my self . i recieved masseges connecion interupted re connecting . several times , still i wait for connection so that game can be completed . but how i violeted fair policy , i dont know.i think it is not fair.Chess.com should look in this matter.if reconnected in 3-4 min it may not be intetionally disconnected by members.i m v sad to be punished for not fault on my side.

I can't play because apparently I didn't follow the fair play policy. It doesn't make sense because I am just waiting for someone to move or thinking about my own move and then it says I aborted the game.

If you are using an electronic stand alone unit, then you should know better.

Just use your PC like me.

Personal challenges. When a player gets a personal challenge, and declines it, then it should not go down as a 'cancelled challenge'. After all,an unsolicited invite is refuseable.

I have been restricted to play due to "Fair Play Policy" for about 10 days now.I am sure that there must have been some error in restricting my play because I never broke any Fair Play rules. Kindly rectify this and allow me to enjoy playing Chess.com

Dominus_Blicero

I've been given the 5 minute time out for no apparent reason. lol. Just ridiculous.

Sheriff_Whokebe

Gettin dinged on this for no reason.

@Dominus_Blicero, Sheriff_Whokebe, and imookerjee: If you believe you've been sanctioned in error, please contact Help & Support. Click on the "Help & Support" link at the bottom of the page, click "Contact Support," and click the radio button for "Live Chess Issues." Then fill out the ticket.

Please remember never to leave a game in progress. Many people who violate this policy fail to click "resign" before closing the browser. Also, make sure you have a good connection when playing Live Chess.

The support team will help you understand the reason for the restriction, or help you get to the root of the error if a mix-up has occurred.

I do not like being accussed of unfair play.  I had installed java 7 and my computer started looking up 4 or 5 minutes into each game.  I uninstalled and the computer stopped locking up.  I reinstalled thinking the installation may have been corrupted.  Computer started locking again.  i uninstalled and played several uninterrupted games.  This morning I was having trouble with my internet connection and was dropped from a couple of games.  If you do not want me on this website I will gladly leave.

@dave71112: I am no computer expert, but this seems to be a software conflict, not a flaw with the website or server. Unfortunately, as TadDude has stated, when your computer malfunctions in any way, your opponents will not want to play games with you. Maintaining a properly-working computer is your responsibility. I don't mean to be blunt, though, because computers can be extremely frustrating when they don't function properly.

Can anyone else more knowledgable than myself offer some assistance on this problem?

This is ridiculous. I have a poor internet connection which makes this site frustrating enough to use as it is! Then I see this message that comes up saying I have violated a "fair play policy" and have to wait 5 minutes between games! Chess.com needs to fix this to not include disconnecting or a game taking too long to load due to bad internet connection.

@Scott_Southall: The following is what I told another member experiencing problems similar to yours:

I am sorry about your poor connection. I can truly relate to it. My family and I struggled with poor Internet service for many months to an extent that I was unable to play Live Chess games from my home computer, for exactly the reasons you gave.

Sadly, while you may not be intentionally abandoning games, your poor connection is not your fault, but rather your responsibility. The extra waiting period between games is the lamentable price you must pay--hopefully temporarily--in order to play Live games. I hope your connection improves soon!

Notice the difference between fault and responsibility. Chess.com cannot be blamed for your poor connection. Who can? If your computer can't stay connected, then you must fix it.

As I said, computers can be maddening when they don't work just right. Good luck in rectifying the issue! Smile

Let's make it happen!

@F_E_R_C: I'm sorry you've encountered difficulty. Have you contacted staff directly about this? If not, try this link:

and click the radio button for either "Technical Support & Bug Reports" or "Live Chess Issues," whichever you feel better fits the situation. Then fill out the report.

I hope the situation is resolved soon!
