I played a guy once, he aborted becuase my rating was 30 or 40 higher than his, I kept clicking on him from the graph for a laugh! (awesome poetry) and he kept aborting over and over again! about 40 or 50 times in fact! I wonder how he managed to keep under the 'game abortion line'!

It probably hadn't been implemented back then ;)

Well, the aborting ratio isn't a whole number, it is a percentage. So, to get the percentage, Chess.com divides the number of times you abort by the number of games you have played in and that is how you get banned, based on a percentage. They are also creating a new solution to the aborting problem because some people, who are banned, don't have any friends, so they can't fix the problem. So soon, banned players can only play or resign any games until their percentage goes below the line.

Well, if your opponent is white, and he doesn't play, then just wait because the server will abort for you, so it won't count against you. Also, if you start a new game and somebody picks your challenge that you don't like, then I would suggest you go to "Settings" on Live Chess, then press the Filter tab, under Live Chess settings, and then adjust it to your rating, so you get the opponent you want. You can also adjust the Game Type settings, which is below the place where you make a game. If you have anymore questions, then just ask here, so you don't bother Chess.com, so they can answer more important questions and so they can fix more important problems.

We're about to implement some changes, so stay tuned for details in the Development blog, as well as updates to the Fairplay FAQ.
A few highlights:
- We are going to make it harder (impossible even) to get your account restricted (from playing open seeks) just by aborting. To do this, we're going to cut people off who abort too often (i.e. they will lose the ability to abort; if they don't want to play, they can only resign).
- As this alone would make a non-Abort user vulnerable to opponents who never move at the outset of a game, we are going to have the system automatically abort games where someone is stalling (or absent) at the start. If white doesn't move in 15-20 seconds (likewise for Black's first ply), the game aborts. The player whose turn it is when the system aborts the game is the one whose Fairplay score will be affected.
- We're going to make the Rating settings for New Games more obvious as well, which we hope will encourage more members to use this filter to get games they actually want to play.
I like this explanation. It sound good. I only abort if my opponent doesn't make their first move after a while. I won't have to now. My aborting days will be over. Unless I accidently click on the computer opponent. Pesonally, I would like an option to remove the computer opponents from the seeks function. The whole point for me is to play other people.
Yeah, I received a message like that, too, even though I haven't aborted that much. I think it is just a warning before you are actually at risk of being restricted. Alot of people on Chess.com don't know about the Filter options, I might add something like that to my first post on this forum.

Sure, but for the truly friendless, there's always:

Yes! New update about the Fair Play Policy! I have heard about that group, I sent the group leader a message that basically said, "There is no reason, why you should have that group because they are coming up with a new solution to the Fair Play Policy problem." Then, I put the link to this forum.

So, the people who frequently disconnect still cannot play? I think I am getting it now, it is either that the people who frequently disconnect can still not play or they can't play anyone because they are being blocked by alot of people. Am I right?

I have no friends listed and now that I am restricted because of the Fair play law, I can't play at all. Now what do I do??? I play on other sites and this problem does not exist. They have methods for stopping a game before anyone makes a move without any penelties. Why can't chess .com do the same? Also, I have been playing live chess on this site for years without any problems, it's only now they have done this to people.
I think you should watch what you say and do on Chess.com, before you get banned from it. I reported you and I blocked you, so you can no longer post in this forum.
