Please let me play live. You haVE SAID  I violated "Fair play." Sooo sorry. I did not know it. Now I do, I would never violate the fair-play policy!

Yet another. The policy must be working.

It doesn't bother me nearly as much when someone aborts a game now, because I know they will be caught and punished! :-)

Yesterday when someone aborted me, I left them a comment on their profile warning them what will happen. I can't wait to see them post a complaint on the forums when they can't play!

I am still bothered as much as I used to be about aborting games, because I was never bothered in the first place. 10 seconds out of my life isn't too bad.

I just joined and have had connection issues.  I've tried playing with both the computer and my droid.  Short story is, how do I play again?  I don't have any friends to play with to "show i've played more games within fair policy"...  Thanks.

You might take this as excuse but I have to say this, my internet is kinda suck lately so it just keep dropping, and the website thought I "intentionally disconnect". Why would I do that when I was winning? But whatever, the issue now is how do I play again?? Like the above comment , I don't have any friends

As I said on a couple of the other Fair Play threads, we are changing a few things very soon: People who are "over the limit" will no longer be prevented from creating/accepting open challenges, but they will be unable to abort. Their only options will be to play or resign, right from the start. We are also making the rating options for a new challenge harder for people to overlook, since it seems clear that a lot of aborters are simply unaware that they can challenge a particular range of opponent ratings.

Well, congratulations on that.  It is a small pity that chess.com didn't spend a little more time thinking before making that particular blunder.  Seems like you've eventually figured the more correct move. Well done!

Search the archives, guys.  There is some sort of "fair play rehabilitation group" that you can join whose members "friend" each other so they can play.

If you play 15 minute games in live chess, it gets old real quick when some one in a losing position simply lags off. I'm glad chess.com is sanctioning these people. On a site I previously played on, the offenders not only were not sanctioned but the game was adjourned for 15 days to allow the offender a chance to resume play. This was the primary reason I left that site to play here.

Thank you for your policy info. I am now informed about your Fair-play policy. Of course, in chess as in life, ignorance is not bliss!

Fascinating. Today I had two live chess opponents who refused to make their first move. After about 2 minutes I hit abort and I GOT A WARNING?

Bogus!

Those games should have auto-aborted in less than 20 seconds. Do you remember who your opponents were? Maybe we can check the logs and see what happened.

Hi all,

A somewhat relevant update this morning; this is from the last development blog (posted here):

Update Dec. 5, 2011: We have now permanently removed the full restriction on open seeks: Preventing people from playing was simply making it too difficult for them to make positive changes to their own Fair Play scores, and thus creating a dead end. Effective immediately, "fully restricted" members must instead wait 5 minutes between games (unless playing with Friends); this includes games that are aborted, so please read the Fair Play guidelines for tips on how to get the perfect game to begin with!

cybergirl123

Just a quick heads up if you do this too many times they might close your account. I keep aborting games and now I have to wait 5 mins between games; so annoying in other words.

cybergirl123

The 5 min rule is only a warning if you do it again and again then something worse is going to happen. They are trying to make money, they can't have the kind of players that keep aborting games.

when i send 10 mint challenge to computer 10 it shows Challenge failed. Your Fair Play Score is currently too low to use custom time controls. Please choose a default time control and try again. why this is happening. i think it is a default time control, some times my games are aborting its not doing intentionally ,net connection is too low,
