First Tournament- invited players click to accept but nothing happens

I upgraded to a premium membership. I have a group of friends and we were wanting to have a friendly tournament. It was invited only as we are all learning the ropes on Chess.com. They are not premium members yet.

This is probably a user error problem, but how come they can’t seem to join.? I checked the settings and it looks ok. They got the invite but clicking to accept did not work. It is called July Smasher. Did I do something wrong?

We use Apple iOS so I worried that was part of the glitch. By the way thanks for fixing that so quickly.

Respectfully,
Cash

I don't see it in the upcoming tournaments list, maybe because it is invite only, but by default, Daily tourneys require at least 5 Daily games be completed. You might verify that setting was changed or that all your invitees meet that requirement.

Hmmm that was very helpful. I set the minimum games to 5 because it is daily. Should this be higher. Just as I suspected it most likely is self inflicted. I just jumped in with both feet. I will send invite again and see what happens. Thank you for your help.

Still not working. Is there a link that would explain the settings when you set up a invite only tournament?

If you have it as an invite only, you can set it to zero completed games and increase the max timeouts, if needed. My only guess is that your friends don't meet some requirements that are set by default.

Thank you Martin for your help. I got one to accept so it is working. He did not see the initial pop up and did not know he was invited. I am trying to invite the others again. Do you know of a link that explains what the advance setting mean. For example by your help I now know that for daily you need a minimum of 5 games. So this means we need 10 players. Right? So since I am just taking a stab I am not sure what the settings really mean.

I really appreciate your help it is progressing towards a start.

There used to be a good FAQ but I think the only thing available are the help articles

Minimum Games: That is the minimum number of games the players have to already have completed before they can join the event.

The number of games that get played depend on the number of players and the group size. There is some interaction there and how many rounds the event will be.

Martin you are a jewel or should I say diamond. I have 4 in now. Most of the issues is the invited players are not sure where to go to accept

Martin I had read faq about tournaments which was helpful on a broad level. Just have not found anything on specific settings. Like Player Move Speed? Advance Per Group? Concurrent Games per opponents? Now I though minimum games was something completely different from what you explained.

I hope you will help with these as I am very thankful. I hope some day I am as knowledgeable as you and can perhaps return the favor and time you have so graciously given me with these simple questions. We are up to 6 players. Will the tournament start automatically?

Player Move Speed is how fast on average a player makes their moves.

Advance per group: Tournaments are subdivided into groups, this setting tells you how many from that group will advance to next round of the tournament.

Concurrent Games: Typically you will play 2 games versus each opponent. This determines if you play them at the same time or one after another.

Hope this helps!
