i think it is the amount of points of the opponents that you have beaten, divided by 2. it's somewhere on the website...
formula for tie break
add the sum of points of player's defeated to half of the draw players' points (i.e., I beat someone w/ 3 points, and draw against some one w/ 1, I'll have 3.5 points).

sum of points at the moment when that team is defeated or at the end?
Each tourneys may have their own rules. Things to take into consideration: is it to advance to the next round? Is it to share prize money or stuff? In my inter scholastic matches, usually the team whose first board won, trumped everything, if they tied then you go to the next board, if they all tied you have to go to the overall record. Sounds complicated, you are not kidding. Check the tournaments special rules and regulations. Good luck, buddy!
