Go into settings and select what you want to be notified from.
Settings: Notifications.
The problem will be solved.
If persisted, contact support and drag the conversation to spam, or just drag it somewhere else.

I've already tried that, before posting here. The only notification that will turn these off will also turn off announcements I want to get.
I've been through this before. The last time this happened, it happened to my phone notifications, instead. It seems to be triggered by system updates and that's another reason to be posting it here.
Could you please not send emails saying things like 3 Reasons to Do Some Puzzles!
I have checked my notifications, and there is no way to turn off this sort of spam without turning off the announcements I want to get!
I got such an email today shortly after I had spent half an hour doing puzzles, so I can tell that the email has nothing to do with my activities, it's just preprogrammed spam.
I want to be able to get announcements of chesstv coverage of special events (and those announcements often arrive late, BTW). I don't want to have to turn that off to avoid being spammed to do puzzles, play games, etc.
