Huh, interesting. I don’t know why that is but I share your concern!
Game analysis takes too long
Thanks for your concern, very nice. It's not only the game analysis but also the move analysis.
The setting for Move Analysis is such that it should take about ten seconds per move. But if I make the move b6 at the end of this game (https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/10963587741?tab=analysis) it repeatedly takes about 80 seconds. That's much too much for one move only.
The move analysis is running in the browser, so this is maybe a different problem. There is nothing running on my laptop consuming much CPU, and eight logical cores more than enough (much less would suffice). This is not due to the laptop not having enough resources.
Hi
For about half a year now, I observe that the game analysis often takes much longer than expected.
For depth 26 in the user settings, it tells the analysis takes about one minute. So for the average game length of 40 moves I would expect one minute. For the following three examples I made just now, this is not the case:
21 moves, 1:55, nearly two minutes
https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/10613202941
44 moves, 7:10, over seven minutes
https://www.chess.com/live/game/10371474139
64 moves, 3:05, over three minutes (this seems ok, but for last 20 moves, not much to analyze)
https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/10187607049?tab=analysis
The long duration is not due to the end only. But when the completion shows around 99%, it can still take several minutes to finish, exceptionally boring.
As I understand, the analysis is done on the server, not in my browser, so the problem must be on the server.
Can you please explain, what is the reason for this taking so long? Thanks.
