It's an offical rule - if the same position occurs three times it is a draw
game drawn due to repetition

I just had a game against another player called a draw. We had made the same move 5 times apiece. I think daring each other to do something different. After the 5th move the game was drawn. Is that an official chess rule or more a "house" rule here at chess.com? I'm happy with draw (I earned a point!) but my friend was pretty ticked.
