Giving Friend Control On Analysis Board

Hello:

I have a chess study partner who lives in a different state.  We want to use the analysis board in live chess to facilitate our study sessions.  However, when I select "give student full control", my study partner still cannot move the pieces on his end.  Also, there is a microphone button which I assume allows us to talk to each other, but the microphone button does not work either.  I am a diamond member.  Are these features only available to certain people?  Am I using these features incorrectly?
