I played a blitz game at 10 minutes against a player name SayLOER , from India. I played the match and when it was his turn game said: Match Abandoned, Black Won! I did not disconnect or lose the connection so I think that the player do have a hack. Please check the match.

Ok so for as long as you have been on this planet you have never experienced a phone line; internet connection; wifi signal; or mobile signal going down. Wow you have been lucky....until now.

There are certain players that when yo play with them, they have a hack cheat to make you abandon the the game. Your internet is connected, strong signal, your still connected to the chess game because you can see your opponent's clock moving while waiting for your turn to move. You can fidget with your pieces but it won't let you move them because it's still your opponent's turn. So obviously I am still connected to the game and the internet and all of the sudden I lose because I  abandoned the game.  This only happens when they start to lose.  Its so annoying and ruins the whole experience.  I did not lose connection.

You opponents can't impact your connection.

Thanks for helping out with that information that link is actually very helpful, but I am not sure if I lost connection and neither did my opponent.  The clock was still moving the whole time.  Can some one help me understand how we are disconnected or the server had been reset when the clock is still moving. How is there evidence that we have a strong connection and the server banner reset didn't come on and there is real live time progression in the game?  Can the clock timer still move in live progression if we are disconnected?

Happened to me 5 times ! when they loose or just after playing 3 moves.
They wait and one second before the clock will disqualify them because they dont move, they move at the last second, and then chess.com consider that you are the one not playing and you loose the game.

Do something chess.com !!!

idk... game abandoned just means resign but you are not playing, so the game automatically resigns for you.

for some people above me, if you dont play at all, your ratings dont change.

In that case, based on what you're describing, you were disconnected instead.

If you're playing on the app and it happens, make sure you have updated to the newest version.

Its happening a lot lately. Apparently a hack.

Within 3 seconds after moving, Game Abandoned.

I could understand if disconnected after 30 seconds pass. But right after moving? My VPN is off, I'm playing the same way as past 6 years.

But now when I move, Game Abandoned a few seconds after I move? There's a flaw, a bug or a cheat.

There can be a lot of reasons for a disconnect, but your opponent isn't one. If you lose immediately after moving, you had been disconnected for at least 30 seconds before, unless you were in a losing position when you got disconnected.

That's not the case. I've been on same connection for roughly 5 years.

Suddenly Its a three-second time limit after a move. Its either a chess com bug or a hack.

I could understand if I lost connection, or >20 seconds had passed or similar. But none of that.

Same 200mbs blazing-fast connection and no disconnect as I've had for years, suddenly this glitch or hack. There's no delay in the play. It happens literally within 3 seconds of previous move or opponent move.

I have one of the fastest connections, lowest latencies on here, and have for many years. 200Mbps business internet with static IP.

I've seen many with bad connection lose because of that. Its not the connection. And its a recent thing, even a 3 second delay. Either a bug or a hack. 3 seconds shouldn't lose a 10-minute game. A time-out would be at least 20 seconds. Not the case here, repeatedly.

I responded almost a year ago what happened

It's not a hack. It's most likely not a bug.

As mentioned, it can be a lot of different things. It can be processes on the client, traffic on your local network, your router, your ISP, anything between you and the site servers you connect to. It could be on the site side, but when that happens it would happen to everyone on the same server as you and staff would be aware of that.

If you're seeing it as 3 seconds, then you were actually disconnected for longer. I believe the fastest abandonment is when you're disconnected while in a losing position, and that's more time

Its not connection issues. Symptoms would have been apparent both during chess com game play and otherwise.

Weird. I've seen connection issues here in the past and they're obvious. This wasn't one of those. It was fast-paced game play then sudden drop saying abandoned. I'm guessing a glitch on chess com server end. But if nobody else noticed this during the same time period, maybe I'm wrong.

Checking my emails just now, got a "suspicious login" email around the same time. Which makes me even more sure these "abandoned" messages came from chess com side rather than a latency problem.

That happens any time your IP changes and can happen if you log in from a different device. The abandonment comes because the live server you're connected to for the game doesn't see a connection to your client for long enough it end the game. When you get reconnected that fact is presented to the client.
