[for 'Live Chess']  This site lacks a means of playing "odds chess".

So long as the games are unrated, is there any concern (about cheating) when a player purposefully drops material to level the playing field with a weaker player, so that the game results are roughly even?

i doubt many of the things they use to catch cheaters involve hanging pieces.  i am sure you will be fine.

I appreciate your insight, and hope to hear confirmation from site staff.

May I hear from site staff on this topic?  I'd dislike being kicked for cheating.

Perhaps staff are busy?

I don't see how this is cheating even if it's rated....It's your own choice isn't it?

Skwerly

it is frowned upon, however; that's how players sandbag.

in an unrated game though, it seems to be a perfectly valid way to create odds.

oniquarki and i are playing with his idea of giving odds by making one pawn uncaprturable until it promotes.  quarki beat me when i couldn't capture, truly shocking since a 1500ish is giving an advantage to an 1800ish.  it definately does provdie an advantage, though.  i think i could have gotten out of my perdicament without it.  of course, i am sure i could have found other predicaments to fall into later.

we are still in the game with my immortal pawn.  so not sure how that one will work out.

For unrated, non-tournament games, how is 'odds chess' a form of "sandbagging"?
