Has anybody gotten the recommended "Lucas Chess" app to work?

I just downloaded the portable version of Lucas Chess, recommended by Chess.com. But I am unable to move any of the pieces, like I can in Arena Chess, the other recommended app. Is there a trick in moving the pieces, or is the program nonfunctional? I doubt this great site would recommend untried software.
