How do I get back to the sidebar menu?

The bug report will also automatically send a screenshot of your page.

So it isn't just that they suddenly stopped supporting the top bar in the last 20 minutes then? I guess in that case I will optimistically file a bug report as I remember switching to top menu way back when I first switched to v3 and have had it that way ever since until it switched on me just now.

Ok, thanks. I'm glad the bug report feature is still available. Had a bit of trouble with the screenshot, but I linked to this forum just in case. Hopefully others will report this bug too (please be a bug). In case it isn't, well, maybe the avalanche of reports will encourage the site to switch back.

It likely is a bug since you're (batgirl) not seeing it on your end. If it was a switch everyone would be seeing the same thing.

Yeah, I just switched back and forth a dozen times using Edge, Firefox and Chrome with no problem.

Well, keep us updated here on the response time and if -and how- the issue gets resolved.  I've sent in dozens of reports in the past year and have gotten good response and results. Hopefully that will be your experience.

Ha... I has just posted that link, then saw it already posted. I think that's the problem. I suspect if you are a Beta member (I'm not), you've experienced the (permanent) loss of the top menu.

I've gotten good responses for various site issues too (not bugs, but other stuff; never reported a bug before).

And sigh.

Yeah, sadly, top menu looks like history.  If they were going to keep just one, it should have been the top menu (where your eyes automatically go and where the menus drop down, not sideways).

How do i make my chess board smaller ? it now takes up almost the whole screen way too large...

If they're going to kill one, maybe they could have asked for user input on which one to keep.  I used to love this website.

I'm assuming that they chose to keep sidebar over topbar because it's easier or whatever. If they just chose sidebar for the heck of it, (and if enough people like sidebar), they can be pressured to change. Just recently chess.com unleashed one of the weirdest rule changes ever (permitting endgame tablebases), and reverted that rule after enough user pressure.

The side bar is newer.  The top bar was always there.  When have you ever known a website get rid of their new toys in favour of older ones, even if people preferred the old look?

I see you got your answer in the "News" article comments.

I think the permanent side menu is a design faux pas.  But that's just me.  It is what it is.

I sent a msg to them too. Not quite happy with the actual message,  but they responded quickly, and with sufficient info, so I'll give them props to that.

Why does every single website and computer program has to look like a smartphone/tablet application nowadays?
Pointless. Don't fix what's not broken.

This blows. I didnt expect to wake up and be blinded by the 'jitterbug phone' size of the board.
