I HAVE BEEN CHARGED EVEN THOUGH I CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION

I redeemed the premium trial and to my surprise I got an email saying that I was being charged £79.99 ($100)for a yearly subscription even though I cancelled.

I have been charged and I am now struggling to afford food since I am not in a good financial state, which hasn't been helped by me losing £79.99 because of a fault on their end!

When did you cancel? The premium icon has already been removed.

I know the premium icon has been removed, but I have been charged nonetheless. That is the issue, they charged me even though I cancelled!

Well, I think it means your cancellation has been processed and you should have your refund soon.

Usually, people come to the forum having only just sent in their cancellation.  Naturally, they expect it to be processed instantly.

With the coronavirus, chess.com saw a big leap in usage and a slowdown in some processes like refunds that need action by customer service.

And international payments seem to take several days longer.

Getting customer support to process your request is usually the part of the process where bottlenecks have occurred.

I hope your refund gets to you soon.

You should still open a ticket to support. Refunds are not automatic I don't believe.
