ipad losing connection all the time

Using ipad 1, with ios 5.1.1
App is up to date... And dont have any connection problems with any other apps (even using mlb.com and watch live video feed in great quality...)
trying to play on the ipad app (ipad 1) and the app keeps losing conection. every few minutes it just writes "connecting" and it takes 15 seconds up to 2-3 minutes to re-connect.
many times it causes me to lose a game, so i don't see any point in keep playing like that. at least half my losses are due to lost connection.
my wifi connection is great, and don't have any problems in any other online sites or apps.
anyone can help?
