ive had problems with the "downloading status" aswell...once the message disappears there are often pieces missing and i wont be able to move anything and the time will continue to tick...the only way to fix it is to close the app and reopen it and when it automatically returns to the game all the pieces are there again however i have lost since i have "abandoned game"...

im fairly certain the version i have is from a couple weeks back...i will update to the newest version and if the problem persists ill let you know...
I've got the latest version of the chess app and am also running the latest iphone 4S software (5.0)

Sometimes after playing a live game their is a "Downloading Status" message that overlays the live screen, and it never completes what it is doing. If I exit out of that live screen, and then return to it, it is completely unresponsive. Every other screen still works fine (online, computer, settings, etc) but the live screen remains unresponsive. This continues even if I exit the app entirely and return. The only way it resolves itself is if I reboot my iphone. This has happened to me multiple times already and I've only had the app for a couple days. Rebooting iphone frequently is not an acceptable workaround...
