I have the exact same issue on my iPad 3 with iOS 6.1.3 installed. Any ideas on how to resolve or when there will be a fix?

Can you please go into your facebook settings on your iOS device, and make sure that you have allowed Chess.com to access your facebook info so you can log in?

I don't even get to a point of setting a password... I just try to login with facebook and get the error

i had the same issue but it was fixed when i logged into the chess app from a computer web browser. The game then created my user account and set up post permissions accordingly. Then, log in with the mobile app and it should work. By default the game will post publicly on your behalf. You can set that by logging into fb from your browser and heading to the App Settings, and changing the chess app permissions to "Only Me"

I have the same issue. Latest iOS (7.0.2), facebook app, chess.com app. Chess.com enabled in Settings.

Error on mobile: "Facebook error: the facebook server could not fulfill this access request: The app must ask for a basic read permission like email at install time"

I can login fine on my laptop.

I have the same problem. Facebook 6.7.2 and iOS 7.0.4. What to do? Can I get a regular username / password?

I found a solution.

1. Add the chess.com app to Facebook

2. Open chess.com app in mobile Facebook app.

3. Login with Facebook to chess.com app.

Heyas, just contributing here as well. On iOS 7.0.4 and FB 6.7.2 on an iPad, having only used chess.com on a PC with "login with FB" before downloading the iPad app.

Was getting the "Facebook error: the facebook server could not fulfill this access request: The app must ask for a basic read permission like email at install time" when trying to get in on the iPad app.

I made sure I was logged in on the PC while restaring the app on the iPad, and voilà - there it was, logged in with FB!

So, now I can join all you other guys as a wannabe-MagnusCarlsen! Cool

Cheers to you guys for posting here and letting people know what you did Wink

I'm having this problem and none of the workarounds suggested here have fixed it.

I tried everything from previous post and this is how I fixed my issue:

Was getting the "Facebook error: the facebook server could not fulfill this access request: The app must ask for a basic read permission like email at install time" when trying to get in on the iPad app.

I went to facebook on my PC and in the search typed in Chess.Com. This brings up the Chess.com fb page.

Now click on "Play Game"

You will be asked by the app for permission to acess blah blah blah. Click ok, confirm, or what ever the allow button is. I can't remember but it's obvious.

Now got to your mobile device and log in with FB
