Is Chess.com abusing credit card details?

Is anybody else having problems with Chess.com charging on their credit card after a 7-day trial without authorization? In my case, I was clearly promised 'We will not use this unless you authorize it'. There was no cancellation button, no agreeing to terms of service, no request after the 7-day trial whether i would like to continue - I was just charged, promise broken. Now Chess.com is not responding to requests for refunds.  It seems I have to warn the community not to trust Chess.com with your credit card details?

Please provide a copy of that promise. I thought it clearly said, "If you cancel before the trial is over, we will not charge you anything."

Here is what it says on the Help pages:

Is there a free trial?

Yes there is!  Each account is allowed one free 7 day trial! You can sign up for the free 7 day trial by going to the membership page and clicking 'try plan':

Prices in the above image may or may not be accurate, please check here for current prices!

You can choose to have your trial at Gold, Platinum, or Diamond level, but since each of them are free, you might as well test out all the available features with the Diamond membership!

If you cancel before the seven days are over, you will not be charged anything! And even if you go forward with the membership past the 7 days, if you decide you don't like it we offer a full refund in the first 30 days if you are not satisfied.

Give it a try!

Yes, that's what it says.

At any rate, you can cancel and get your money back. No one is trying to abuse you.

Hi, do you work for Chess.com? Suspiciously legalistic. The message flashed up on screen when asking for the credit card details, and it read as I stated - a promise not to use the card without authorization. No one would have a copy of that. As also noted, Chess.com are not responding to requests for refunds. Are any other users experiencing this concern?

PS Why has my post not appeared on the main community message board but looks like it's been diverted to a Chess.com representative posing as a user? Chess.com, please place this chain on the main board?

@IMNConsistent please put in a support ticket at Contact Us - Chess.com Member Support and FAQs and they will resolve your billing issue.  Putting your concern in a thread will not create a ticket.

This is what the trial message says:

The "if you continue" wording is a little ambiguous in my opinion but the but automatic billing on subscriptions is normal unless canceled.
