Is it okay to report someone for cheating even if you are unsure?

I sometimes find people who a suspect are cheating but am afraid to report them, should I report them? Will chess.com not allow me to post more reports if I do this?

Report anyone you truly suspect.

Before reporting anyone I would look at the game, their accuracy, and look at their profile. Do they often have insanely high accuracies, especially for people under a 2000 rating? If so, you might be looking at a cheater. If their accuracies are normal looking, if they win some and lose some, then you’re probably not looking at a cheater.

Also, look at your own game. Did you have a blunder? Some mistakes? If so, and their accuracy wasn’t 99 or some such, then you probably simply lost. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You cannot get punished for reporting someone for no reason. Just report, don't worry.

Fair enough. I would just hate to see us all devolve into declaring cheating all the time. That doesn't feel good. I learn from every game I play, including, I imagine, any game someone might've cheated in. Honestly, it's never occurred to me that another play might be cheating, though perhaps it happens. I've also been accused of cheating, what I most definitely wasn't, and that doesn't feel good either.

Look at the profile first, but then report anyone you think is cheating. Chess.com only bans them if they are 99% sure.
