My friend is fairly new to the game and has never studied openings or endgames or anything. He's rated 1200, which is the starting chess.com rating. I played him, and he was getting 99% move accuracy over the game, and this happened several times. However, his moves were never fast and oddly he kept on running out of time. I don't understand how a new player can get 99% move accuracy consistently without using an engine. He's never studied anything, but I also don't wanna jump to conclusions. I'm 1250 myself, and he's getting 99% move accuracy against me when most of the people I play online get around 70%. Do you think he's using an engine, because in terms of move time, he always takes around 5-10 seconds after the starting moves. So, is he using an engine?
No one really knows. As chess.com said last month, the accuracy score is not a cheat detector.
That said, it is very unusual for new players to score so high.
You can report him if you really want to find out.
