jd, this is what i was referencing in post #17, and, what others have written. it appears there are some non *swear* words that trigger the automatic red banner.

It's not now, but it was blocking me from saying idiot last week.
on the plus side, nobody could call you an idiot!

You guys are cute.
Either you got brainwashed or you need to rethink that I don’t think they should use that language in public forums

There are lots of idiots here who should be blocked.

Idiocy leads to misinterpretation, to put a generous spin on gross incompetence.
Yeah I said I’m an id$ot before somewhere I was like I’m so dumb then it blocked me for saying it
Mods needed time to verify that claim
Chess.com needs to provide an online thesaurus for those of us with too limited a vocabulary to get around the currently blocked words.
I hear ya, OP, week or so ago I got the same message because I quoted Aaron Nimzovich using the word "idiot". I immediately posted "No restrictions, just ban me or not based on what I said." The droids lurking behind this interface were too cowardly to respond to that or apologize for their offensive gaffe, but they just might be smart enough to know three things...
I am who I say I am.
Usernames are trivial to ban, users, not nearly so much.
There are other chess sites on the internet.
BONUS OFFERING: I waste enough time on here, if I got banned, some of my friends would give the moderators a standing ovation.
One more thing. You have even greater liberty of speech in an American courtroom than you do on chess.com. Google the US Supreme Court case "Cohen v. California".
