I agree !

When I played a titled player sometime ago, I won by quality and position on board, but in fact, I've lost on time because my lagging factor.

I've also lost a lot of games like this, particularly when using the app. Comments and offering a draw seem to work even though my move isn't accepted. Aside from the inconvenience I'm worried about people thinking I'm deliberately stalling. A fix would be awesome...

Yes, we hope chess.com can fix the problem.

Lag has been an issue on this chess.com for years, and nothing has been done. I'm sure this thread will be ignored, just like every other lag thread before it (or the original poster will simply be redirected to the same help page that everyone who has ever said anything about lag has been directed to; which is about as useful as a sh*t flavored lollipop). The only way the issue is ever going to get addressed, is when people stop buying paid accounts, and start leaving the site for chess sites that offer better servers.
Thank for your response,

I'm reading it :) Most of our players have extremely low lag. But some people do. Factors that can contribute:
- your browser (we recommend chrome)
- your internet connection
- your computer speed/age
- the number of programs running on your machine
- wifi vs direct connection
- your router quality (if on wifi)
Fewer than 10% of people have lag of more than 1 second. Most people have 1/10th second of lag.
I feel bad that not everyone has a perfect connection, and we are doing everything that we can to improve the service every day.

Hi Erik,
Thanks for your response. My issue seems to be specifically when using the app on my IPod. In the same room, using the same wifi I have no lag problem on a laptop but I will regularly experience the 'frozen move' when using the app. The screen shows my move as having been made and my opponents clock keeps going down until suddenly it shoots back up and I notice mine has dropped corrsepondingly. It still appears that my move has been made but this keeps going until my opponent generously agrees to a draw or I turn it off (knowing I'll have lost on time-out). Is this a problem with the App or is there something I can do about it?
Thanks for your help,
Dave

watchyourqueen: Are you connecting through a proxy server? I've seen several disconnect reports on your account, most of them were related to your internet channel disconnect (not only chess.com, but also other sites were unavailable I guess) or to a proxy connection issue.
Please let me know. Thanks.

I was connecting possibly tethering through my phone while at work( in the bush) I am not sure what a proxy server is, if that is considered it or not. Either way i was upset but have since learned that when I am not at home or on a stable network this is the price I must pay and it isnt the sites fault. Thanks Piotr

I'll add something. Make sure you check your CPU for either things like "speedstep" or if it is overheating. I'm not talking about red hot, but just enough to increase your fan RPMs. I takes a lot of hardware interrupts and that will cause "lag".
Also, video drivers and mouse drivers have to be spot on, or you may have lag which is really due to the mouse or video.
Anyway, it can be very frustrating, expecially in 1m games, but it is what it is.
Those are some things that often don't get much mention, but may help you if you want to try some other things.
Thanks Erik for this great site!
Lagging is the main issue of the live chess. Lagging problem so influential on the players opportunities to maximize their chances of winning. Therefore, I ask site moderator to forward the information to the chess.com engineers in order to create a kind feature that allows players to find opponents who have the same connection quality with them. We hope lagging factor not only give benefit one party who have a better connection.

Note:
base on the link above, I've made a checkmate position (Rh2 # , Qc1#, Ra3# etc), and on my display also shows the same thing, but because of the lagging, the system still think I haven't stepped up to the time expires.
