What is your app version?

v4.2.16

I believe the newest version is 4.2.18 and there was a event link fix out in .17 that might have fixed this issue vas well. You should update and check again.

If racial slurs are permitted on chess.com, I think members should be warned before hand. Especially when people can get muted for saying “st*pid”

I’m neutral on this situation, but I think that the mods really should actually look at all the evidence to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt repetitive behaviour. I get why screenshots aren’t considered proof, but in that case they should look at all of these comments compiled somewhere, so they can make a decision. I would say if this is all in the context that it looks like, it is a pattern of bad behaviour. But ultimately, it’s up to the mods. Just please, don’t ignore it and move on, actually take the time to look at all the posts

I’m still not updated

I had to go to the App Store on my iPhone to manually update to v4.2.18.

@Martin_Stahl dont you think a repeat offender using racial slurs deserves to be muted? Or does chess.com policy allow racial slurs as long as you only use them every 2 months?

A lot of one-off things like that might be handled by different Moderators, with no documentation and just an edit of the post, so it could potentially not be seen that it might be repetitive behavior.

That is not the case in this situation.

The first slur used by this member (at least the first that I know of) was edited by @AwesomeAtti. The edit clearly states "[Moderator removes racial slur - AA]".

The second slur was just recently edited by you so you can't deny that one existed. Although I do have a screenshot of it if you need to refresh your memory.

This proves repetitive behavior.

You say that edited comments may not be seen as repetitive behavior because of lack of documentation. Like Gregg says "record-keeping should be the site’s responsibility".

@AwesomeAtti chose to document why the comment was edited. You chose not to. That is a failure on your part. Mods have publicly stated that action cannot be taken based off screenshots taken by members that are reporting issues, however that is the only way for us to prove what was posted after a comment has been edited with out explanation like you have done.

What more do you need to take proper action against this member (LONG MUTE) for the repeated use of racial slurs?

He has even bragged about getting away with it……

Now I’m updated and the bug is fixed. Thanks.

I also realized a “report a problem feature” at the bottom. Is that a new feature that has been added in the update?

That's always been there, I've used it several times to report problems on the Android app.

Why so silent @Martin_Stahl?

If you and Chess.com have no interest in taking action against this member and their Racial Slurs, than would you please edit your edit here so that it states that a Racial Slur was removed? https://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/hardick-pandeya-is-the-goat#comment-98378337

That way there will be proper documentation when this member repeats this behavior.....Again......

Come now Panda. We all know that racism isn’t nearly as bad as a rice-ball.

That issue has already been resolved. @AturnMarso has been updated and links are working fine.

The issues that do need to be resolved are:

The action -not- taken against a member that has used Racial Slurs more than once.

@Martin_Stahl's silence regarding this issue.

And Chess.com's failure to properly document the repeat use of Racial Slurs.

The silence is starting to affect my sense of self worth.

What is sad is like TrashPanda stated is the affect it might cause to a member, especially if they're that moment dealing with enough negativity already..

AbyssalSludge

It's like with cheaters. Chess.com doesn't want to deal with their problems.

What’s worse is the prejudice and preferential treatment of certain site users. No one’s going to take action against the member in question because Panda brought it up and is continuing to point it out. A similar thing happened to Al, he voiced his concerns about being unfairly moderated and now he's considered a nuisance. Meanwhile , repeat offenders carry on.

Something else that doesn’t help is when other users defend people like Tony. You know, like you have in the past.

WTFrickenA

When it's legitimate, that's another thing. And as I've stated already before I had never heard that phrase nignog before and his kook remark was not racist but yes calling you a strange one that wiki defined of it, and I copypasted lol even clipboard

WTFrickenA

....but, yes if he's throwing racial remarks yes absolutely he should be muted indeed!
